Kids Soccer Drills: Kicking & Chipping The Ball

Chipping the ball is a good technique especially if you are teaching kids soccer drills about the various soccer kicking techniques.
  • As per this kicking method, the players have to use their toes to aim at the ball. While targeting the ball, the players have to make sure that their supporting foot is positioned next to the ball.
  • Now, the players have to be very quick in thrusting their kicking foot first back and then forward to kick the ball real hard.
  • Here, you should note that while doing so, the players do not have to move their thighs much.
  • They have to be very careful because they have to kick the soccer ball in a way to shapely cut the ball from the bottom with the tip of their toes. Everything has to be done in a very short time.
It is important for the coaches to have their players practice this kicking method thoroughly during the coaching sessions using various soccer drills for kids.

If you want your players to execute chipping the ball in the most effective manner on the field, ensure that the players have expertise in it and perform the right kids soccer drills to achieve that.

The players are not advised to use such kicking until they are sure to kick the ball the right way.

Soccer Coaching Young Girls: Gender Issues

Soccer coaching young girls is different from coaching soccer drills to young boys. The basic different lies in the ways soccer girls and soccer boys take the game.

Let me give you a brief insight...
  • In comparison to boys, it has been found that soccer girls are more analytical in nature.
  • Boys generally take things at the face value while the girls tend to ask questions, such as why, how, etc. They will ask why they should do a particular soccer drill, what is the benefit, etc.
  • Girls are also more concerned towards the unity of the team.
  • Good news for you is that girls are also very good at fair play. They do not believe in foul play and their focus is always on fair play.
  • What is more, when it comes to soccer coaching young girls, you will find that girls also tend to take responsibilities for their mistakes.
  • On the other hand, boys will never blame themselves for their bad performance. Instead, they will blame the referee, the weather and even the coaches!
  • However, for boys, winning the match is everything. On the other hand, girls have more focus on playing a fair game. They lack aggression.
Learning how to coach soccer to young girls is important and starts by understanding these simple differences.

Soccer Fitness Training: Making The Winning Move

The soccer fitness training is an important part of soccer coaching and it is important that you pay special attention in designing and developing the same.

However, you should also note that you do not need to have a separate training session for soccer fitness everyday, at the need of the coaching session.

In fact, the new coaches believe in running separate soccer fitness training program, which is not recommended. You should use the fitness techniques, within the practice games and drills as much as possible.

Have your players concentrate on the way they make specific moves with the ball.

For example, if the player has to dribble or shield the ball, he or she should do so with an effective control of the ball. Running with the ball is also considered as a very effective way in this regard. This method is also known as speed dribbling.

Having your players practice the speed dribbling in a right way, will work both as fitness training as well as soccer skills drills.

After you notice some improvement in the game of the player, you can have them practice the more advanced version, where they have to run with the ball with effective control, but with changing direction at different pace. When coaching youth soccer these are important tips to follow.

Youth Soccer Coaching: Teaching The Advance Defensive Techniques

Youth soccer coaching session must be planned, keeping in view the specific age group of the players you have to coach. If you are coaching the high school soccer players i.e. players above 14 years of age, you can teach them about the following advance defensive techniques:

If the attacker is quite near your goal line, the defender must focus on putting much higher amount of pressure on the ball and the ball carrier.

Here, you have to clarify to your players that putting pressure does not mean, try to win the ball and get the possession of the same.

Applying pressure on the ball carrier only means that you have to leave no way for the attacker, but to lose the possession of the ball because of his or her mistake.

Teach your youth soccer players that this can be done effectively by putting yourself in a strong way between the ball carrier and the goal line.

When it comes to youth soccer coaching, another advance defensive technique is to effectively mark your enemy and block his or her way. Such techniques will effectively create a very hard defence that will be very hard to crack by the opponent team.

Soccer Coaching Video: How To Enhance The Goalkeeping Skills

A soccer coaching video is an effective tool for the soccer coaches that will help them understand about their mistakes and various ways to ensure the achievement of optimum results, from their serious efforts.

It has been found that new youth soccer coaches have their focus on improving the soccer skills of all the players, except the goalkeeper, which is not the right approach. This is not something a good soccer coach is supposed to do.

It is very important for you to understand that goalkeeper of your team plays as important a role as does any other player in your team.

Therefore, instead of having this partial approach towards coaching youth soccer drills, you had better change your way and have special attention in improving the goalkeeping skills of the goalie.

One of the most effective ways in this regard is watching the soccer coaching video. It is a common saying in the world of soccer that a goalie is the last in the defensive line of your team and he or she is the first one in the offensive line of your team. You have to coach soccer goalkeeper drills in a way, so that he or she could read the mind of the attacker.

Teaching Soccer: Teaching Ball Control Skills With Rapid Fire

When it comes to teaching soccer, rapid fire is one of the best youth soccer drills that will help your players acquire some great soccer skills regarding ball control.

  • As per this drill, you need to have six or seven of your players form a circle around one player. The middleman will not have a ball, but all the remaining players will have a ball with them.
  • Now, each of the players positioned on the perimeter of the circle will start passing the soccer ball to the middleman.
  • As the middleman receives the ball, he or she will first trap the ball and then after getting control of the same, he or she will kick the ball back to one of the players standing on the perimeter of the circle.
  • This player will then again pass the ball to the middleman. This way, the process will go on until the middleman passes back the ball to all the players on the circle.

While teaching soccer and ball control skills using this drill, you have to make sure that you keep switching the middleman with one of the players, standing on the perimeter of the circle.

Soccer Coaching Tips: Teaching The Defensive Strategy Is As Important As Teaching The Attacking Strategy

If you are looking out for various soccer coaching tips that could help you build a better strategy, in order to improve the overall soccer skills of your players, the first thing that you have to keep in mind in this regard is that soccer is a game, where using the defensive soccer techniques is as important as is using the attacking techniques.

Some coaches only believe in aggression and they focus their youth soccer coaching sessions, only to teach the players about the attacking strategy, which is not the right approach. Your purpose is to build a winning team and this is possible only when your players are aware of both the defensive and the attacking strategies.

The ability of your players to convert opportunities on the soccer field into scoring a goal is great, but if they are not good at defending an attack, the opponent team will not take longer to settle the account with you.

Therefore, while you are using the various soccer coaching tips, you should focus on learning, how to achieve formation of a team in a compact way. The compact formation of team in the field is undoubtedly the best defensive strategy that will keep the opponent team away from your goalpost.
