Soccer Moves To Beat An Opponent

There are two things to consider when performing soccer moves to beat an opponent.

1. Player holding on to the ball

These soccer moves involve the player maintaining control over the ball without letting the opponent get to it, by using his own body, as he dribbles the soccer ball. Teach your player that no contact must be made with the opponent during this move, as there is the likelihood of a penalty.

2. The player does not have the ball

This technique requires some practice as the other players strive to keep the opponent from even seeing the soccer ball, which is in the possession of one player so that the opponents don’t know what the next move will be.

How To Beat The Opponent With The Scissors Soccer Move

When coaching youth soccer, this basic soccer move can be used to disorient the defender leaving him puzzled about where the ball is going. Incorporate it into your soccer drills during the training session and demonstrate how it can be executed when the player has space between himself and his opponent.
