Teaching Soccer To Kids

Teaching soccer to kids can be very rewarding if you know how to motivate them and keep training sessions fun and interesting. But there are other important elements to consider:

  • Kids Training Is Not An Academic School

When it comes to teach how to soccer, every soccer coach should understand that coaching soccer is different from the way classes in academic schools are held. Kids come for the training session with an intention to have fun and play.

If coaches make the game look serious, the kids will not enjoy it and this may result in various disciplinary issues. If you want the kids to have interest in the game following all the disciplines, you must make training fun and engaging.

STEP 1: Do not be too rigid, but do not be too light as well.

STEP 2: Teach everything through practice and interactive games and drills for soccer, and not through the long boring lectures (they are important, but you must keep it short and simple.)

STEP 3: The majority of the training session must be in the form of a keep-away game or cone drills.

STEP 4: Explain the drills briefly, and then let them run around and play.

In general, make training sessions interactive, fun and engaging. You will have to deal with less disciplinary issues. Thus, teaching soccer to kids can be easy to deal with if you take care of the little things as discussed above.

Kids Soccer Drills - Teach Passing Skills

Teaching kids soccer drills is one of the most rewarding task a soccer coach can embrace. Learning how to pass a soccer ball properly can be one of the skills that your kids need to master.

  • Passing The Ball And Follow Directions

STEP 1: Follow these soccer instructions and put the kids in a queue at one corner of the field. Count till three and as soon as you say, “GO”, the kids have to run towards you. While they are running towards you, they all have to try to steal the ball from the one who is kicking it off.

STEP 2: Now, as soon as you say, “STOP”, the one who was kicking the ball off will pass to one of the teammates.

  • How To Get The Ball Forward Passing All The Defenders

It is very important in soccer to have good ball control and keep possession, passing all the opponents. This soccer coaching technique requires two players – one defender and one who gets the ball forward, passing the defender. Allow some point system. For example, if the defender gets the ball, he will earn one point.

I'm sure these kids soccer drills can help you improve team performances.
